May’s Memories!

May's Memories!

May 2025:

It’s May, it’s May… well you know the rest! But here we are at the end of another month, which means another monthly round up!

I started the month off in comfy clothes, sat at my desk writing! It’s slow going, but I see it as progress is any progress. I’m making it my mission in June to really crack on with the book – it won’t be long before the book is available for you to get your hands on!!

As I mentioned in the last blog post, Mum and I (with a little bit of help) managed to lay artificial grass down in the back garden. One person who is definitely enjoying the new garden is Bertie. He has often been found stretched out on the lawn sunning himself, so of course we had to snap a couple of pictures!

The many weekly shopping trips also meant many trips up to the cafe! Just one of my many treats out of the month! 😋

At last the sun finally made its appearance! So we decided to make the most of it before it disappeared again. So I grabbed the suncream and swapped out my desk for the garden table for a day or two. And not only did the sun help top up my tan, but it clearly gave me some motivation too because I finally managed to finish writing chapter six! And of course I had my little writing buddy with me 🥹

I said I wanted to get chapter six written by the 16th May so that I had a goal to work towards – get chapter six written by the time you go to see The Drifters! It really wouldn’t be a blog post from me without a little mention to The Drifters one way or another! This time we were travelling to Doncaster (this will come as no surprise to anyone when I say that we have already seen them here before 😂) But it was a fantastic night, the band was spectacular, and shoutout to those working behind the scenes to make these events possible – you truly are the unsung heroes! As I have already said before, check out The Drifters website and see if they are performing anywhere near you and grab yourself a ticket 🎟️ if you love music from the 50’s/60’s you will not be disappointed!

Another shopping trip meant another delicious treat – this time I indulged in the tasty breakfast! 😋

I don’t really have an images for this one, but every year Mum and I look forward to an evening watching the Eurovision, and this year was no exception! We cracked open a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and spent the evening putting our expertise to the test scoring each song before finally ranking our top ten! I am already looking forward to the next Eurovision being hosted in Austria! (if you know me, you know I am a massive fan of The Sound of Music, so this is ideal for me!)

As I had mentioned earlier, we were focusing on putting the finishing touches to the back garden, which meant Mum wanted a few more planters and flowers to decorate. Which also meant I had to put my DIY skills to the test again and build this wheelbarrow planter and try and fix these small planter pots to the fence. Needless to say there were one or two injuries, and it definitely took me more than one day to do, but we finally got there! (I say we because it wouldn’t be a shock to any of you when I say Bertie was on hand to lend a paw whenever I needed it)

Another little piece of DIY work from me was putting these signs up on the gate in our front garden. The pug sign is so sweet! 🥹

Before I get into how I spent the rest of May, I just wanted to include something exciting and mind blowing… I managed to reach 1K followers on TikTok! Now, this may not seem like very exciting news for some of you reading this, however for a self-published author and someone whose only real means of getting my book out there in the world is through online marketing means that having such a large crowd behind me wanting to follow along with me on my writing journey is so touching and means so much to me! So thank you to anyone who is following me (not only on TikTok but also through my other social medias – which you will find links for at both the bottom and top of my website), your support means so much to me and I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you ❤️

The final moments of May for me were spent with family as we had a visit from my Aunt and little Archie!! Who has grown so much since we last saw him – which is crazy as it has only been just over a month! Our little boys had so much fun chasing each other around the garden and the house, and going on their little trots in the morning and in the evening (we also discovered that Archie has now found his voice and the pair of them enjoyed sharing their thoughts with everyone we passed!) We had some lovely trips planned, including a trip to the garden centre (which meant a little stop off at the cafe for a sweet treat), a little meander around a farm shop near us (and another stop for a hot chocolate this time!), and we had arranged and booked afternoon tea one day up at The International Bomber Command Centre in Lincolnshire. As mum has only been up there once and neither of my Aunt’s had visited it before, we decided to dress up nice and make a day of it which was so lovely. Particularly as at the minute they are displaying the ceramic poppies in the shape of a Lancaster Bomber, which was beautiful and made it more breathtaking that you could see the Cathedral in the distance and our day was truly made when the Red Arrows flew over the spire. This is one of the places Dad and I would visit from time to time so it was nice to be able to return back there with other family members who were just as interested in. If this sounds like somewhere you would like to go and visit, whether that be when you are planning to visit Lincolnshire or if exploring more about Bomber Command, particularly as the poppies will be displayed up there until August, then make sure to add a visit to the International Bomber Command Centre to your list of sightseeing! Other than that, we spent our time laughing and chatting or sunning ourselves in the garden and splashing about in the paddling pool (although that was mainly me paddling my feet as no one else wanted to and the dogs weren’t interested!) But here is a slideshow of our week!

And finally, we had a small family of Great Tits nesting in one of our bird boxes and they finally set off for their new home in the last couple of days of May. However, one was left behind in our garden and after being terrified by coming face to face with a pug or two, we weren’t sure if the little bird was going to be okay. Luckily, after some careful observations (made by me staring out the window at it), and some words of encouragement (by me playing Great Tit song noises at it and telling it where the nearest tree was for shelter and the nearest field was for food), he found his wings and took off to find the rest of his family. Gerald, we hope you made it buddy!! 💚 (Yes I lead a sad life… I know 😂)

Comments Conversation: Where’s one place you have visited during May that you would visit again? And if you can, why not include a photo! 📸

Until next time!

See you soon!
