Joyful June!
June 2025:
Halfway through the year already! And only six months to Christmas! 🎄But before you start moaning at me that it’s far too early to be thinking of that, let’s see what the first month of summer had in store for me!
I had tried to spend as much time as I possibly could (and what my motivation would allow) to work on writing more of the first draft of my third book. I started off June halfway through writing chapter seven, and I finished June completing the plan of chapter eleven and just starting to plan chapter twelve. So personally I would say I haven’t done too badly; especially as I have reached the halfway mark! I did share a video on TikTok walking you through one of my days writing, so hop on over to my TikTok to see that!

After the departure of the little bird family, we decided to dismantle and remove the old birdhouses in the garden and replace them with newer ones, ready for any other birds to nest a home. But it was interesting to see how the birds created their nests; Bertie was especially keen to have a sneak peek. But the new houses are now vacant and ready for our new tenants!

I had said at the beginning of the year that one of my goals would be to focus more on self-care; and part of that was taking more care of my skin. So I have been trying to create time during this month to start including elements of my weekly pampered routine into each week. And that included face masks and peels. So here are some of the new products I have been using.

It will come as no surprise to anyone reading this when I say that I had to do a bit of DIY work out in the garden! With the help of my Aunt, the three of us managed to dig up the grass in the front garden in order to put down artificial grass. Now I will say it looks great, as you’ll see from the pictures. However, on the second day of digging it did rain, which meant I was soaked and covered in mud… as you will also see from the pictures! 😂 But the day Mum and I laid the grass it was a boiling hot day, but all the efforts were worth it as it now looks so much better (but it does mean Mum wants to lay some more down the last tiny patch of grass we have out in the back garden – which means I have this to do all over again 😂😭).
Throughout the month of June, we have had a few opportunities to treat ourselves to some yummy treats. If we weren’t hungry before, you might be after seeing this slideshow of different delicious foods!

It will also be no surprise to anyone who knows me when I say that I also attended a concert or two. It will be even less of a shock when I say they were both concerts to see The Drifters! As with every other performance, it was amazing! And as I will continue to say, if you live in the UK and haven’t yet seen been to see The Drifters and you love some classic soulful R&B (what have you been doing? Have you been living under a rock?) Check them out (https://www.thedrifters.co.uk) and see if they are performing near you and grab yourself some tickets! I will say those both of the performances we went to see had to be one some of the hottest days of the year so far! But that didn’t stop us from singing and dancing the night away!
Another exciting event that took place during the month of June was Bertie’s birthday! Our little man turned seven this year! (which makes Bertie roughly in his forties – because I also didn’t realise that different breeds of dog can be different ages in dog years compared to others!) As his present, Bertie received a new addition to his agility course set – a set of weaving poles – which we have tried out already (there is a video on my TikTok of Bertie learning the art of weaving if you want to check it out!) Happy Birthday Bertie-Boo! 🥳🎉🎈 Here is a slideshow of Bertie snaps throughout June in honour of his birthday – enjoy!

I ended off June by ordering and receiving new copies of both book one and book two, which meant that I finally got to start filling up the drawer set I had bought for my books – it’s the little things that make me happy in life! 😂 I ordered the drawer set off of Amazon, it was reasonably priced and super easy to assemble!
But I will take this opportunity to say, if you fancy yourself a murder mystery series for when the autumn and winter months start to creep in, then head to the Shop section of my website and order yourself a copy of my books! Of course you can order them through certain bookstore websites (simply type the novel names into our search engine to see where they are available) but ordering them through here allows you to have a signed copy of the book, a free bookmark and a handwritten thank you note from me – which yes I do write each individual note! And with book three coming out towards the end of this year (eek exciting! 👀) then this is the perfect time to start reading book one and two before receiving your pre-order of the third!
Comments Conversation: Are you a big advocate of reading and if so, what’s your most recent read? I am currently reading ‘The Girls Who Disappeared’ by Claire Douglas. I’m about a third of the way through it and so far I am enjoying it and already coming up with my own theories about what happened. But with some of the things that happen in the novel, I would be lying if I said there weren’t moments where I was uneasy reading it; so maybe I should stop reading it just before I go to sleep 😂
Until next time!
See you soon!
