August's Achievements!
August 2025:
In the words of Taylor Swift: ‘August slipped away into a moment in time.’ I feel like August seemed to be a long month, but now we are heading into September, I can’t remember what I did at the beginning of the month as though it has gone quickly. So let’s see how much I can remember of the month of August.
We started off the month by finishing off the demolishing of the shed, which meant we had to break down the large base of the shed. Luckily, the majority of it was attached together by screws; the hardest part of it all was breaking down the planks of chipboard with the saw, but we managed it. I thought I would share how much better the garden looked after the shed had been removed. It now seems so much more open and bigger – and now we have a new option for a seating area! We celebrated the joy of finally taking down the shed with a meal out to our local pub. Of course Mum and I picked the chicken tikka masala (clearly a firm favourite with us) whilst my Aunt said that the lasagna was also delicious. As we are discussing the garden, we then spent some time around the end of the month digging up the final part of grass and laying down all the last parts of the artificial grass. Of course no DIY work I do would be complete without an injury or two, I managed to injure my thumb (had to bring out The Gruffalo plasters) and I bruised my hands using the shovel, but after two days of VERY hard labour, the garden is now fully astroturfed and I never want to see another blade of grass again! So here are the final pictures of the garden work – all done with the help from a little four-pawed friend as always 🐾
Speaking of Bertie, it is a custom with my blog posts that Bertie receives a section all to himself of some of his own snapshots from this month. To round up Bertie’s August in a simple summary would be: lots of snuggles, a new friend to play with, a tough day at the office and a new festive frock 🎄❤️
The rest of my August was spent at my desk writing away. I was determined to finish handwriting and then typing the first draft of Book Three… and I am thrilled to announce I did it!! I even surprised myself and managed to start on a little bit of editing too. So keep your eyes peeled as you might find in the next blog post some more exciting news about Book Three in the near future 👀 – but also check out my Instagram page and TikTok account for more frequent updates! 👀

My final event of the month was something I have been looking forward to (and have been counting down to) for over a month – from the middle of June if you want to be specific. Mum and I finally got to attend the next long awaited performance of The Drifters!! This time we headed to the not so sunny town of Skegness (I am sure Skegness is a sunny town, but it was not when we arrived there that evening!) Without sound like a broken record, the performance was well worth the wait, all the band put 100% effort into it and you shouldn’t be surprised when I say that Mum and I also threw everything we had into the performance. Not that we were invited on stage or anything – maybe next time eh Mum? But as always, check The Drifters website out here: The Drifters! The tickets are affordable and worth every penny. and yes, before you ask, I am already counting down to the next one in October!

Comments Conversation: What is one job you have been putting off this year and have either completed or planning to complete? Ours would definitely have been the garden work – the only thing we have left to do is painting the fence, but that can wait until next year!
Until next time!
See you soon!
